Black in Business: The Evolution of African Heritage Entrepreneurship in Rhode Island

Keith Stokes, Vice President of the 1696 Heritage Group, will detail the evolution of African heritage entrepreneurs - from enslaved Africans who brought their labor and skills, to the 19th and early 20th century men and women entrepreneurs of Providence and Newport.  The presentation includes images of historic documents of people, places, and events from the collections of the Rhode Island Black Heritage Society.

This event is sponsored by the Office of Institutional Diversity, Equity and Inclusion and the Office of the Provost.
