This one-week camp is about using and visualizing data and how we gain insights from the data. The first day of the camp will explore data visualization using tools such as Tableau or IBM Watson. It involves the creation and study of the visual representation of data.
On the second day of the camp you will learn how to use Google DataFlow to program Pepper the robot and be introduced to 3D data Visualization in Bryant's new Data Visualization Lab. Effective visualization helps users in analyzing and reasoning about data and evidence.
The third day you will have a session on Visual Storytelling: Data and Comics and a go on a field trip to a local high tech company.
On the fourth day of camp is an introduction to how we make predictions through a tool called SAS Enterprise Miner, a popular data mining tool. Data Mining is the process of analyzing data from different perspectives and summarizing it into useful information. Students will also start work on their own data project with the guidance of the instructors.
On the fifth day, students will learn about analyzing Twitter data using Python. They will close the camp by putting the final touches on their project and presenting their findings. Family members are invited for these presentations and lunch.
