In this session, Prof. A. Can Inci will share his journey and experience of growing up in Turkey, graduate studies in the U.K. and U.S., and his teaching at Bryant.
Professor Inci has a rich international background. His grandparents are from Georgia, South East Asia, Greece, and former Yugoslavia. His brother was born in Australia. Prof. Inci was raised in Istanbul in Turkey. He speaks English, Turkish, German, and some Spanish and French. He has been to more than 40 countries around the world and he has visited all the states in the USA.
After completing his undergraduate degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Bogazici University, Prof. Inci received a fellowship from the British Council and continued with his electrical engineering education in London, England. He got his Master’s Degree in Control Systems from the prestigious Imperial College – University of London.
Following his education in the U.K., Prof. Inci received full scholarship from the Ohio State University to pursue his MBA degree with specialization in Finance and Logistics. Prof. Inci continued to earn his Ph.D. in Finance from University of Michigan – Ann Arbor. His dissertation was on the Exchange Rate – Term Structure of Interest Rates relationship in a dual country international setting.
Florida State University in Tallahassee was his first academic job experience as Assistant Professor of Finance. Following a two-year period at Sabanci University in Istanbul, Turkey, he returned back to the U.S. as Associate Professor of Finance at Bryant University in Rhode Island. He got his tenure and became Full Professor of Finance at Bryant University and continues to teach and research at Bryant. In 2014, he spent a semester during his sabbatical at Cass Business School in City, University of London in the U.K.
