Are you like an open book and do you have valuable experiences that readers could benefit from learning about? Are you motivated to help challenge stigma and stereotypes through dialogue and personal conversations? Become a book! 

Bryant University will be hosting its first ever Human Library, a collaboration between the Council for Inclusive Excellence, Human Resources, and the Krupp Library.  This event will bring together volunteers who serve as “books”, people who will share their stories and experiences, and “readers”, interested Bryant faculty, students, and staff to hear stories and engage one on one with the books. 

The Bryant University Human Library event will take place over two days during Professional Development Week, March 4th and 5th and will be held from 10:30am-12:30pm each day.  

We are seeking applications for those interested in serving as books for the Human Library.   

What does this mean? 

You will identify the stereotype that you defy and provide a book title and short description to be added to a catalog where readers can choose you as a book to “read.”  You can view the Human Library website to see some examples. 

You will have one on one conversations about your subject with several readers during the time frame for which you are assigned.  The conversations will last no more than 20 minutes and you will have 10- minute breaks in between.
