Interfaith Prayer Breakfast
the 23rd Annual Interfaith Prayer Breakfast on Tuesday, February 12, from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. This event, which will be held in The Heidi and Walter Stepan Grand Hall of the George E. Bello Center for Information and Technology, is open to the community as well as to Bryant students, faculty, and staff.
The Interfaith Prayer Breakfast at Bryant is patterned after the National Prayer Breakfast held during the first week of February each year in Washington, D.C. and replicated throughout the country. Our Interfaith Breakfast is designed to give attendees an inspirational hour of music, prayer, and a spiritual message. This year’s theme is Honesty, Healing, and Wholeness.
Our guest speaker is Father Robert L. Marciano, KHS, a member of the Bryant University Catholic Campus Ministry. Father Bob, as he is affectionately known on campus, was ordained to the Roman Catholic priesthood for the Diocese of Providence, RI on December 10, 1983.
On January 1, 2019, Father Marciano was named President of Bishop Hendricken High School, the premier and nationally accredited all boys Catholic High School in Warwick, from which he graduated in 1975. He will continue to serve as Pastor of St. Kevin Church and School and as Administrator of St. Benedict Parish in Warwick. Father Marciano has also served as the Chaplain for the Warwick Police and Fire Departments as well as Chaplain to the Providence Fire Department. As a first responder to the 2003 Station Night Club fire in West Warwick that claimed 100 lives, he was honored with the Maltese Medal from the Warwick Fire Department and the Distinguished Service Medal from the Warwick Police Department. In 2005, His Eminence Sean Cardinal O’Malley inducted him as a Knight of the Holy Sepulchre (KHS), a Papal order.
A member of the U.S. Air Force Chaplain Corps since 1980, Father Marciano served in both the Air Force Reserve and the Rhode Island Air National Guard. He was promoted to the rank of Colonel in 2008. Transitioning from active duty back to parochial duties in 2010, Father Marciano was appointed Catholic Chaplain of Bryant University and continues to serve on the Campus Catholic Ministry Team.
