24th Annual Interfaith Prayer Breakfast
The 24th Annual Interfaith Prayer Breakfast, will be held at Bryant University in The Heidi and Walter Stepan Grand Hall of the George E. Bello Center for Information and Technology on Thursday, February 20, 2020, from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. This event is open to the community as well as to Bryant students, faculty, and staff. The Interfaith Prayer Breakfast at Bryant University is patterned after the National Prayer Breakfast that occurs every year in Washington, D.C., during the first week in February and is replicated throughout the United States. Our Interfaith Breakfast is designed to give attendees an inspirational hour of music and prayer, as well as a spiritual message. The theme this year is Hope and Change in a Time of Transition.
Our guest speaker, Reverend Kevin White, has been Pastor of Calvin Presbyterian Church in Cumberland, RI, since February 2015, and the Protestant Chaplain at Bryant University since March 2019. Pastor Kevin enjoys exploring and wrestling with issues of faith and life and discovering all those places where the theological intersects with the joys and sorrows, tears and laughter of life.
As the solo pastor of a church and as a chaplain here at Bryant, he is continually amazed that he has the awesome honor and privilege to walk with so many through the ups and downs and questions of life, together discovering God’s grace in the middle of it all.
Pastor Kevin loves being the number one fan of his wife Rachel, finding every opportunity to let others know how talented an artist she is, and, together they are constantly in awe of the fact that they have the joy of being the parents of their son, Ezra. Pastor Kevin notes that he is particularly happy that Ezra has turned out to be almost as big a Star Wars fan as he is.
Born and raised in Richmond, VA, he received his Master of Divinity degree from Union Presbyterian Seminary in Richmond in 2013. Pastor Kevin also has bachelor’s degrees in Philosophy and in Religious Studies from Virginia Commonwealth University. Before attending the seminary, Pastor Kevin enjoyed six years as the Director of Youth Ministries at Fairfield Presbyterian Church in Mechanicsville, VA. He also worked in the specialty outdoor retail industry, and in a boys’ home in Goochland, VA.
An avid soccer fan, Pastor Kevin practices the spiritual discipline of humility by following and rooting for Everton FC in the English Premier League. He tries to stay young by continuing to play soccer himself, and has recently followed in the footsteps of his son by taking up karate.
We are asking for a contribution of $8.00 to help defray the actual cost of this breakfast.
